Aim of the AppCdieet game, funded by the Dutch Science Foundation (NWO), is to examine scientifically the effect of training to control unhealthy impulses on physical health. Playing with the AppCdieet game trains the player to stay away from unhealthy foods and alcoholic beverages. Scientific research suggests that this kind of training decreases fat and sugar consumption and thus improves health. After a fixed period of training, researchers will measure a players’ physical weight to assess the effect of the training. Users: The research project will recruit people to play with the AppCdieet two times a week for a period of one month. People may volunteer to participate and will receive monetary compensation. Functionality: In the game a series of 200 pictures is presented. Each picture appears full screen (landscape orientation) with either a blue or a gray border. If the border is blue, players should touch the screen within 2 seconds. If the border is gray, players should refrain from touching the screen. Players can win points by responding correctly to the pictures. At the end of the game, a final score appears on the screen and players can start again.
