Arches National Park Geology Tour provides an illustrated and narrated introduction to the geology of Arches National Park. Illustrations, animations, and photos by Dennis Tasa are narrated by geology professor Deborah Ragland, Ph.D. of the University of New Mexico, Taos. Either as a supplement to your visit or as a planning tool, Arches National Park Geology Tour provides an extensive description of the geology of the park. Listen to the narration as you hike the trails, study the photos and animations before your visit, or just take a virtual trip. THE GEOLOGY TAB Sequences of illustrations, animations, and high resolution photographs are used to describe the geology of the park. Viewers are introduced to the geologic history of the Colorado Plateau. Forces and processes that shaped the geology of the park are illustrated and described. A Geologic Map and Stratigraphic Column for the park are included. THE TOUR TAB A Quick Tour of the park allows you to view photos of many of the park features as if you were driving along the roads in the park. A list of locations is provided so you can easily find the feature of interest. Several photos have additional annotations to help illustrate the geology. THE MAP TAB This tab provides the National Park Service park map and the corresponding USGS topographic map. The maps can be enlarged for more detail. Touch points on the map display photos of the features along with the narration from the Tour section. EASY TO USE: The app makes full use of pinching, zooming, and orientation flipping.
