Description

Helsinki University Bulletin (HUB) is the international magazine of the University of Helsinki, and the iPad issue at hand is a one-off special edition of it. HUB’s main task is to highlight the results of research undertaken at the University. HUB is stories about science, research-in-progress and the city: an engaging way of keeping track of developments on all four campuses of the leading university in Finland. iPad special issue is published to pay tribute to research projects taking part in World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme. The subjects of the articles range from ecology and liveable, green urban environments to green technology, green services as well as socially sustainable society. Many research projects of the WDC year deal with pedagogy, better schools and upbringing, teaching technologies and modern library services. Moreover, WDC year is about designing the city student friendly and international. The main theme of the iPad HUB is “Designing the Future”. Helsinki University Bulletin is published by the University of Helsinki Communications (www.helsinki.fi/viestinta-ja-yhteiskuntasuhteet/english/). The University of Helsinki is one of the best multidisciplinary research universities in the world. The high-quality research carried out by the university creates new knowledge for educating diverse specialists in various fields, and for utilisation in social decision-making and the business sector.
