Description

The Hands-On Math: Multiplication Toolkit is a collection of interactive models that are commonly used to teach multiplication facts and concepts. Multiplication is a shorthand way of doing repeated addition and can be presented in a variety of ways. One of the ways this app introduces multiplication is by displaying an array of objects with an associated fact. 4 × 3, for example, can be shown using an array of twelve objects arranged in four rows with three objects in each row. Presenting multiplication in this way helps children realize that multiplication is commutative. (4 × 3 = 3 × 4 ) Another way the app helps children learn to multiply is by showing the patterns produced by marking multiples on a Hundreds Chart. In addition Flash Cards and quizzes are used to help to improve speed and accuracy. Hands-On Math: Multiplication Toolkit turns your iPad into an interactive Mathematical Playground that provides young learners with an opportunity to freely explore multiplication concepts and practice recalling multiplication facts. Five interactive environments are included in the app: Classic Times Tables Hundreds Chart Money Board Flash Cards Multiplication Quiz Machine An extensive Instructor's Guide for this app is available at the support website.
