Description

Dunbar Primary School is the largest primary in Scotland and the UK, with over 1,000 pupils at the school and nursery. We are a thriving school community, with a very active and progressive Parent Council. Dunbar Primary School Parent Council won the Scottish Education Awards "Parents as Partners in Learning Award" in 2013. Dunbar's first SciFest in 2011 brought the local and wider Scottish science community together in our town. We reached out to children not just at Dunbar Primary school and Grammar school, but from all the local primary schools, along with their extended families. Dunbar SciFest 2012 won the National Science and Engineering Week Best Community Event 2012! Dunbar SciFest 2013 was awarded "Outstanding contribution to National Science and Engineering Week" by the British Science Association. Dunbar SciFest is organised by the Science Sub-Committee of Dunbar Primary School Parent Council, working closely with Dunbar Grammar School and the other primary schools in the Grammar School's catchment area. Longer-term, our objective is to grow SciFest into a significant annual festival that will ensure that Dunbar becomes a major Scottish focus for public engagement with Science!
