Discontinued App

Description

Sky Gems is a new app developed for amateur and professional astronomers who are fascinated by double stars and their unique characteristics. It was made to be user friendly and to provide useful and filtered information presented in a way appropriate for use in the field next to the telescope or as a pictorial atlas of 1300 double stars inhabiting all of the 88 constellations. - Sky Gems is built to be intuitive and usable. A couple of minutes are all you need before you can use it with confidence. -Set constellations of interest, star magnitude limit, maximum separation between components as well as spectrum for primary, before retrieving results for display. - Search for stars based on Proper name, Bayer, Flamsteed, Struve and Variable star designations. -Results are displayed either as a text list or as a beautiful set of panels each with 6 star pairs to choose from. - A detailed, approximate, view as seen through the telescope is also a unique feature of this app with separation, position angle, colors (where available) and magnitude values used for the display of each pair. - Important data for each pair is also a double tap away - Don’t forget to shake your device to change N-S and E-W directions while in the detailed star view! If you want to explore the night sky treasure of double stars with your telescope or just find out some forgotten hard to split double star lurking in an obscure constellation you should consider this app. More features are planned for future updates. Happy double star observing!
