Learn about music and sound, and see how the frequency spectrum of the sound and music your hear corresponds to musical notes. The HotPaw Sonogram Music Visualizer presents a live scrolling sonogram (also called a spectrograph) of sound from the device microphone, with the frequency Y axis matched up against the keys of a piano keyboard. For most musical sounds and speech, you will see LOTS of overtones and harmonics, not just the fundamental note pitch frequencies. This sonogram graphs frequency spectrum from 2 octaves below middle-C to more than 3 octaves above middle C. For a more powerful music visualization app, additionally capable of analyzing audio from your iTunes music library, optionally slowing down or speeding up music playback, scrolling back to review the graph, filtering out overtones or center-panned voice, providing more color options, and many other features, please see the HotPaw Music Spectrograph, also available in the iOS App store. Note: This app has nothing to do with ultra-sound or 3D imaging (that's from another usage of the word). This sonogram is strictly for audible sound visualization.
