TouchMath Adventures: Touching/Counting Patterns is the first in a series of TouchMath apps that uses a unique multisensory approach to mathematics, making the subject fun, accessible and appealing for all learners. WHO IS IT FOR? Appropriate for pre-K-1st grade, as well as Response to Intervention (RtI), remediation, and special education, students take on the role of an intrepid explorer on a quest to unravel mysteries through a combination of problem solving and reward-based gameplay. We cover all bases with a multisensory approach that levels the playing field by engaging all learning modalities (auditory, visual, and tactile/kinesthetic). When students use TouchMath, they understand what numerals mean and basic math makes sense. WHAT WILL STUDENTS LEARN? With TouchMath Adventures: Touching/Counting Patterns, students learn: -- Numbers 0-9 -- Number Values -- Touching/Counting Patterns -- Placing TouchPoints -- Numeral/Quantity Association WHAT ARE TOUCHPOINTS AND TOUCHING/COUNTING PATTERNS? The one-of-a-kind TouchPoint system provides the base for the TouchMath Program -- the ONLY math program that uses the actual numeral as a manipulative. Each numeral from 1 through 9 has TouchPoints corresponding to the digit's value. -- Numerals 1 through 5 have single TouchPoints -- Numerals 6 through 9 have double TouchPoints As students count the TouchPoints, they associate numerals with real values. They learn that a numeral (3, for instance) is not just a squiggle on a page. It represents a quantity such as three apples, three ladybugs, three buttons or three TouchPoints. THE STORYLINE The year is 2142. Youâ€™re inside a secret and remote training facility located somewhere in earthâ€™s orbit. The facility is known simply as â€œTC Station,â€ and youâ€™ve been selected because of your unrivaled courageousness. You are here for one reason: To find a better way to learn math. It all begins with the Touching/Counting Patterns, since learning this critical skill is essential to your future success. If that sounds like a lot of pressure, donâ€™t worry. Youâ€™ll receive the assistance of D.I.G.I.T (Digital Intelligent Guide for the Instruction of TouchMath), so you wonâ€™t have to embark on your training alone.
