Director: Silvana Annicchiarico Scientific consultation: Alberto Alessi Laying out and graphic project for the exhibition and catalogue: Martí Guixé Triennale Design Museum and D'Uva Workshop present the ufficial application for visiting the 4th edition of the Museum entitled the “Dream Factoryâ€. People, ideas, business and parodies of Italian design factories, in programme at the Milan Triennale from the 5th of April 2011until the 26th of February 2012 During the 50th anniversary of the Salone del Mobile, the Triennale Design Museum dedicates its 4th edition to the people, companies and projects that have contributed to the creation of the Italian design system from after the war through to today and which have decreed the success of the Salone del Mobile throughout the world. Through a selection of iconic objects, a female voice will accompany you along the route of this exhibition that aims to illustrate the very particular activity and also profound nature of what Alberto Alessi defined as “ Italian Design Factoriesâ€, that move along a line that oscillates from functional value, symbolic value and poetic value of the objects produced, and on the other hand narrates the great capacity and ability of these “research laboratories†which are such as to attract foreign designers who choose to work in Italy recognizing the excellence in the production. The exhibition route oscillates between two poles: on one side a profound and precise theoretic thought that derives from reflections carried forward by the curator on these themes over the years, on the other, a poetic, artistic and fairy tale method of narration that borrows from the imagination of Lewis Carroll and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The laying out project of Martí Guixé has been conceived as one of the adventures of Alice in Wonderland : the objects enter into a dialogue with the designers and the stories of the great business men are mingled with their personal biographies in an atmosphere that is playful and rich with emotion and suggestion. An extraordinary opportunity to discover some of the most famous Italian design objects through a new point of view. The multi media guide is available in English and Italian. The application is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch and necessitates a 3.0 or successive version.
