The Waitstrip provides a concrete visual representation of increments of time, amount of steps to be completed, number of minutes to work, number of math problems to be completed etc. It is a visual guide that allows an individual to remain on task or focused for a duration of time. Children with autism frequently have difficulty understanding the passage of time while engaged in a task and can become frustrated when unsure of "how much longer" or "how many more" need to completed before the task or activity is finished. The format of the Waitstrip allows for any activity to be paired with the number of buttons to be pushed before the break can occur, depending upon the needs of the specific individual or the demands of the specific task or activity. The Waitstrip is an app that can be used to add structure to most any activity or task. It is used to represent the passage of time before the task or activity is completed. The Waitstrip app was developed by an occupational therapist working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Features: -Runs in background while other apps are being used -Full screen -Sound upon completion -3 color options for buttons -Choose from 5, 8 or 10 buttons Instructions: 1. Select the number of buttons that correlate to the number of steps/tasks to be completed. 2. Select the button color. 3. Once each expected step or task is completed, a corresponding button is pushed. Repeat until all steps or tasks are completed. *When using other applications with Waitstrip, double click the iPad home button at any time to display icon bar and return to Waitstrip
